Oh to be 9 again!

Welcome back to our 'one small thing' series, where we share one small thing to help you, your business, or your client's business!

Let’s be honest: most people aren’t properly reading your social media posts. At best, they’re scanning.

And when they do read them, they’re processing your copy at the level of a 9-year-old. 😳

So, as a social media manager (or ads manager) simplifying your copy matters is really important because:

1️⃣ Confused people don’t convert
If your message isn’t instantly clear, people won’t stick around to figure it out.

2️⃣ You’re writing for brains in scroll mode
Even when people do stop to read them, they're skimming the copy, not reading it in full (bet you're doing that now!)

3️⃣ Good ideas get lost in word soup
You might know what you’re saying, but if it’s buried in jargon or long-winded sentences, no one else will.

That’s why we love this free tool.

It checks your readability score before you post, so you can make sure your captions are at the right level for your readers.

Bookmark it, run your copy through it (especially if ChatGPT got wordy again), and keep it simple.

We love a good trend. (note the word good) The Anthroplogie rock, this week's rapture... hell even 'Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday' was ok to start with. But not all trends are worth jumping on, and the new Instagram reel size that seems to be blowing up this week is one of those trends we're swerving! In case you missed it, people have started posting 5120x1080 Reels. They look like this 👇 There are 3 reasons you might wanna avoid following this trend... 1) People watching without sound won't...

Freelance life is meant to feel freeing, right? But when you’re a social media manager, it can feel more like you’ve swapped a full-time boss for five different new ones, 47 logins, and so many tabs your laptop looks like it is growing something! Burnout is one of the most common reasons people leave the freelance world, it breaks our hearts when we see incredible social media managers give up because they’re stretched too thin. But burnout doesn’t just happen overnight. It creeps in quietly...

I don’t know about you, but I hate remembering passwords. Yet somehow, I can never forget one very important one: the Deliveroo passcode! They use a simple two-digit passcode that never changes, and coz it's always the same, I always remember it! That’s exactly why we built the Hubsy Power Hour portal in the way we did. Because you don't need the added admin that comes from sending follow-up emails with the recordings and any notes you promised to send over, but you also don't want your...
