How I stopped asking permission to spend money.

Like you, I went freelance because I needed flexibility — my son William needs round-the-clock care, and I wanted financial freedom without always asking, “Is it okay if I buy this?”

But, school holidays, hospital appointments, and life in general meant I couldn’t take on loads of long-term clients. I needed something simple, profitable, and totally flexible.

Enter: Power Hours.

Here’s why I think every freelancer should offer them:

  1. They’re wildly profitable. I started at £99 (about 8 years ago) and quickly worked up to £297 per session. One session a day, Monday to Thursday, and the extra income added up fast.
  2. You don’t need another big offer or long-term package. Power Hours are a brilliant way to serve people quickly without the pressure of an ongoing project.
  3. They’re easy to schedule around real life. Appointments, holidays, inset days, I could fit them in as and when I had time.
  4. They give huge value in a short time. Clients walk away with clarity and actionable steps, something people are happy to pay a decent amount for.
  5. You can charge more than you think. These days, £99 would be way too low for a power hour, but whatever you start at, you can steadily raise your price as the demand grows. We've seen people charge over £500 for a power hour wrapped up in a fancier name!
  6. They’re a stepping stone to bigger offers. Inside The Inner Hub membership, we teach the 'Power Hour Power Up' Strategy (see below), which helps you turn a one-off session into more revenue, without being pushy. When Jacqui, one of our Inner Hub members, used it, she converted a power hour into £1,500 worth of business!

By the way, August is a great time to offer Power Hours to your audience so they can get back into the swing of things in September, ready for the Q4 madness!

Welcome back to our 'one small thing' series, where we share one small thing to help you, your business, or your client's business! Let’s be honest: most people aren’t properly reading your social media posts. At best, they’re scanning. And when they do read them, they’re processing your copy at the level of a 9-year-old. 😳 So, as a social media manager (or ads manager) simplifying your copy matters is really important because: 1️⃣ Confused people don’t convertIf your message isn’t instantly...

Ever buy something expecting it to be a bit “meh”… but end up completely obsessed? That’s exactly what happened when I told Laura D we should try the Email Remix Wizard (created by our pals Justin & Sarah at Wake Up To Freedom). I'd hoped it might help a little here and there when we wanted to talk about something we'd mentioned in emails before. But honestly, it’s been blowing my mind because: The emails it writes actually sound like us! Most AI tools butcher tone, but this one is spot-on,...
